exponentially in recent years. It is used to collect information from several people to help in
solving a problem or help in finishing a task for a particular organization or personnel, in this
case, the health care system. Crowdsourcing has great promises in the information technology
primarily in the healthcare applications for the near future (Ghosh & Sen, 2019). Besides,
crowdsourcing helps in providing more accessible health care to more individuals and
communities with lower costs of care and at a short time.
Advantages
The use of crowdsourcing is advantageous in that it is cost effective. According to
(Ghosh & Sen, 2019) the organization that is using the crowdsourcing has to pay for the bugs
that are found in the system rather than paying the professional testers in terms of hours or
months rated salaries. Besides, the use of the order by a large group of people helps in providing
reproducible bugs, which is much better than having a handful information of the testers.
Secondly, crowdsourcing gives a variety of parameters that are used in performing testing and
can be easily accessed from different connections, various browsers and at different speeds,
therefore, allowing for information collection and testing from diverse backgrounds.
Disadvantages
According to (Ghosh & Sen, 2019) privacy and confidentiality concerning individuals’
health data are always compromised because a large group of professionals are working on the
data which may not be able to contain the information within oneself. Secondly, there is
difficulty in communication between the user and the testers or among the testers because of

language barriers and at times due to limited time to allow for interaction. To enhance more use
of crowdsourcing in the health sector in future, the appropriate crowd that uses it should be
identified and considered to ensure that the crowd is capable of handling the application and
have adequate knowledge on how to use the system.
