Project to improve Documentation in the hospital

Project to improve Documentation in the hospital

Purpose of the project

Documentation is a very essential procedure in hospital especially in nursing. To complete the nursing process, the nurse must document all the findings and the interventions they perform and sign. Most hospitals however still employ manual paper documentation in some/ most areas. The purpose of this project is to improve documentation in the hospital by digitalizing most of the documentation. This will involve introduction of more digitalized gadgets and trained staff to facilitate the project. The purposes of the project include making documentation faster and easier. This will be achieved through digital machines because less paper work will be necessitated. Information storage will also require minimal space because there will be less filing of stationeries.

The target audience

This project will target both the health professionals and the consumer of their services. The patients need a reliable health care system that saves them as much time and energy as possible. Digitalizing the health records is hence quite necessitated by the patients too. This is because it would be very hectic to walk around with health records at this error. The project hence targets the patients as main beneficiaries of the project. (Ehhorst & moller 2017)This includes both inpatient and outpatient clients. The population estimate from the patient’s category will hence depend on the hospital capacity.

Benefits of the project

This project will highly benefit the patients especially those with chronic illnesses. This is because most of these patients will require history reviewing during their hospital visits and much of the history needing to be traced from years. The patients will also not have to carry with them old record which is quite relieving. The patient can also access health care from any hospital because their information is easily accessible. (Haddad & Wickramasinghe 2015) Patients trust on the health care system will also improve because digitalized health records are more secure and protected.
