How to write a nursing essay on Morphology of Cells

What is Cell morphology?

Cell morphology defines cells’ size, structure, shape, and form (Bruker, 2022). It relates to the shape and size of bacteria in bacteriology, for example, Cocci, Spiral, Bacilli, etc. Also, most cultured mammalian cells can be categorized into three groups based on their morphology, i.e., lymphoblast-like cells, epithelial-like cells, and fibroblast.

Cellular morphogenesis has an important role in developmental biology. It is affected by the cell’s microenvironment. However, mechanotransduction, mechanosensing, and mechanoresponse govern response to topographical and biophysical cues (Bruker, 2022). Morphological characteristics play an important role in diagnosing and staging cancer; normal cells have regular, ellipsoid shapes, whereas cancer cells are irregular and contoured. Additionally, it has been found cell morphology plays a crucial role in culture experiments (Gibco, 2022). Examining the cell’s physical characteristics will help detect contamination signs and contain them before it spreads.

Effects of Ingesting Windshield wiper fluid on osmolarity, sodium levels, and oncotic pressure

Windshield wiper fluid contains methanol, which can be dangerous to someone’s life (Ashurst & Nappe, 2022). Methanol poisoning results in electrolytes and cell changes. Ingestion of windshield wiper fluid will increase the osmolar gap, increasing osmolarity (Ashurst & Nappe, 2022). Increased osmolarity leads to increased production of ADH (Antidiuretic hormone), which increases water absorption. Also, it depletes sodium levels, resulting in a condition known as hypernatremia. The sodium imbalance results in neuromuscular manifestations clinically. Furthermore, it affects and increases the oncotic pressure by preventing the cells from drawing in water, the scenario caused by changes in the cell permeability of NA+ (Ashurst & Nappe, 2022).
