Change Implementation and Management Plan

It’s a common saying, but it’s true: Change is always happening. As a nurse, you know that the healthcare field is always changing. To succeed, you need to be able to adapt to these changes because they happen fast and often.

As a nurse, you’ll need to use your knowledge to help others, teach them, and speak up for what’s right. Your actions can guide others through these changes. For this assignment, you’ll suggest a change in your workplace and make a plan to put it into action.

Resources:

Before you start, look at the learning materials for this week.
Click the link for weekly resources to find them.

Preparation:

Look at the resources and think about a change your workplace needs.
This could be something you noticed when you did the Workplace Environment Assessment in Module 4. Or it could be a new issue. You might want to talk to your bosses or coworkers to get their thoughts.
Think about how you’d make this change happen and how you’d explain it to your bosses.

The Assignment (5-6-minute narrated PowerPoint presentation):

Making Changes Plan

Make a PowerPoint with 5 or 6 slides and record yourself talking about your plan.

Your talk should be 5–6 minutes long.

Your plan should cover:

What’s wrong in your workplace right now (you can use what you found in your Workplace Environment Assessment if it fits).
What change you want to make
Why this change is needed and how it’ll help your workplace
Details about the change you want to make
Who will be affected by this change
Who will help make this change happen
How you’ll tell everyone about this change
What you’ll do to deal with any problems that might come up because of this change

Alternate Way to Do Your Assignment:

You can also use Kaltura Personal Capture to record your talk over your PowerPoint slides. First, make your slides, then follow the instructions to use Personal Capture. You can turn off the webcam if you want. When you’re ready, start recording and open your PowerPoint. After you’re done, follow the instructions to upload your video. Don’t forget to upload your PowerPoint too, with your notes.

Due by Day 2 of Week 11:

Send in your recorded talk and your PowerPoint. Look at the instructions for how to do this depending on which way you chose to submit.

It is one of the most cliché of clichés, but it nevertheless rings true: The only constant is change. As a nursing professional, you are no doubt aware that success in the healthcare field requires the ability to adapt to change, as the pace of change in healthcare may be without rival.

As a professional, you will be called upon to share expertise, inform, educate, and advocate. Your efforts in these areas can help lead others through change. In this Assignment, you will propose a change within your organization and present a comprehensive plan to implement the change you propose.
