Nursing: Human Development paper
Instructions: For this paper you will be asked to define some terms, apply them to Bianca\’s case, and then reflect on how your own development may have been effected by niche-picking. More detail below…
EXPLAIN: how each of the following concepts supports the conclusion that genetic influences on human characteristics are not constant but change over time: somatic mutation, niche-picking, and epigenesis. Provide definitions and examples for each.
APPLY: Bianca’s parents are accomplished musicians. At age 4, Bianca began taking piano lessons. By age 10, she was accompanying the school choir. At age 14, she asked to attend a special music high school. Explain how gene–environment correlation promoted Bianca’s talent.
REFLECT: What aspects of your own development—for example, interests, hobbies, college major, or vocational choice—are probably due to niche-picking? This paper should consist of the following: Cover Page; Body of the Paper with Explain, Apply, and Reflect Sections; References Page (please consult proper APA style as references MUST be in a specific format) Apply APA Style including citations throughout the paper. You must cite any ideas that did not come from you. Page must be no more than 6 pages double-spaced (Arial or Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins) not including cover page and references page. Must include at least 3 references to articles from peer reviewed Psychology journals. You must NOT reference newspapers, magazines, blogs, or other non-academic sources. Hint: somatic mutation, niche-picking, and epigenesis would be good keywords to input in your search for resources. This is an open-ended question with no right or wrong answer. Please avoid casual language and maintain an academic tone. This can be a challenge when relaying personal stories, however it is often necessary in this type of writing. It is okay to use, “I” and “me” in this context. Label each section with the following headings: EXPLAIN, APPLY, or REFLECT so it is clear what section you are writing to.
