Evidence based practice
According to Aarons, Hurlburt and Horwitz (2011), local health care systems play a significant role in Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) implementation. EBP integrates the best available evidence to guide in the provision of care to the patients. It also assists health care practitioners to address health care concerns with the evaluative and the qualitative approaches available in the society. Local health care systems is an essential aspect whose understanding guides the decision-making process of the EBP implementation. The local health care system is the organization of the individuals, institutions, and the resources that get used in the delivery of the health care services so as to meet the health, needs of the target group. In order to implement the evidence based practice, there is the need to understand the local dynamics that affect the organization of these essential elements.
Aaron, Hurlburt and Horwitz (2011) also assert that successful implementation of the EBP requires that the components of the local health care system are expressed and their interrelationship well established. It is also critical to appreciate the holistic aspect of the local health system regarding the aspects that facilitate the promotion, restoration, and maintenance of health of the individuals at the local level. In doing so, the implementation of the EBP will be done using the practical resources that are present in the community. Community resources also play a part in the logistics of an EBP implementation since they determine the degree of which these interventions will be successful. One of the learning from this conversation that I would take into consideration for my change project is that the understanding of the local systems, resources and the components is essential when planning for the logistics of Evidence-Based Practice Implementation.
