Middle age adult and exercise.

Lack of enough physical activities is the major contributing factor to chronic illnesses which is the current burden in the healthcare sector. On top of keeping fit, physical activities are beneficial to the general state of health in an individual not only physically but emotionally and psychologically it helps the mind to relax. Activities involved during physical activities including deep breathing, relaxation and contraction of muscles keep the metabolism and vital systems of the body optimally functioning. According to a report that was given by Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, 80% of total population of adults in America do not exercise as recommended. This article focuses on health issues that are caused by inadequate physical activities and measures a nurse should take.

Prevalence in the society.

Physical exercises as one of the lifestyle choices that can impact one’s health can also help to prevent and manage several conditions. Some of the conditions include obesity, stroke, and arthritis among many others. Obesity as a condition mostly come about as a result of sedentary lifestyle and consumption of high-calorie fast foods. With the increased urbanization, approximately a third of the world’s population suffers from overweight and obesity. In the United States, 36% of the total adult’s population are overweight and suffer obesity (Ogden, 2015). Stroke is rated to be the third leading cause of deat6hs in the United States. 1 out of 20 deaths that occur every day caused by stoke. United States stroke statistics from the stroke center in 2014 indicated that almost three-quarters of strokes among people of middle age below 65 years. In 2015, 22% of the total population in the United was diagnosed with arthritis. It was labeled the leading cause of disability among adults. The numbers of these incidences are expected to be even higher with time if current trends of living persist.

Measures a nurse would take.

It is important for nurses as health care providers advocating for health in the patients they handle to point out and help them to understand the significance of physical activities in their health walk. Regular physical activities and exercising is a cheap strategy of preventing and managing most chronic conditions that individuals struggle with. Through the social media, website or during one to one interactions, nurses ought to be on the front line promoting healthy practices among especially physical activities and exercises.  The public should be made to understand convincingly how exercising can solve most of the health issues they struggle and spend many funds on.

Most the middle age adults have busy schedules working, family and studies till most of them do not find time to themselves to exercise (Mynarski, 2014). It is the role of the nurse to encourage such clients the importance of creating time in those busy schedule to exercise.  The nurse should suggest possible options that would get even the whole family involved in during family time. Some of the options include at least 30 minutes’ walk a day, aerobic exercises which can be carried out even at home and swimming exercises during vacations. Those who manage sports and gym can also create time for the same. The best exercise is the one that involves most muscles of the body. This is not only to keep fit but ensure general health of the whole body.

To gain cooperation from the client, as a nurse one should in cooperate the client in decision making. The exercising schedule should be client-centered, the nurse only assists the client in coming up with [physical activity plan depending on what they can manage. There is no standard amount of physical activities and exercises one should engage in. the baseline of physical exercises to prevent and manage conditions is to be regular and consistent matching with someone’s ability.

Conclusion.

A check of nutritional intake and involvement in physical activities marks not only health in an individual but the general state of health in communities and state at large. By preventing chronic conditions in individuals, the funds allocated towards the treatment of this conditions and their complications will be used in improving other services within the healthcare sector.
